The Sewage Treatment Facility is located in the north east section of the City on U.S. 54 also called North Jackson.

The City of Pittsfield operates and maintains the treatment facility and three lift stations.

The City of Pittsfield will be financing the following upgrades to their Waste Water Treatment Facility by Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF).  The access road entrance will be relocated and chip sealed; a new head works with bar screen and grit removal structure will replace the existing head works and screw pumps; the existing primary motor control center will be replaced with energy efficient variable frequency drives; the existing influent lift station and piping will be replaced with new, submersible pump lift station; influent flow measurement manholes will be installed; replacement of primary and secondary clarifier drive mechanisms; repaint clarifier bridge assemblies; replacement of chlorination basin drive and bridge repainting; air header rehab/ main air header replacement; new main motor control center/electrical; non-potable water system; tertiary filter pump room drain line; site/master control system will be replaced and integrated with two remote lift stations; replacement of doors and windows; site restoration and fencing and demolition of old head works.  The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Once complete it will improve the treatment of waste for the residents and businesses in Pittsfield.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources water.
