💙 Pinwheel Ceremony for Child Abuse Awareness Month 💙 Today, community members gathered in the Upper Courtroom of the Courthouse for a meaningful Pinwheel Ceremony in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month. We heard heartfelt remarks from CASA & CAC Coordinator Karolina Anton-Mumma, Mayor Gary Mendenhall, State’s Attorney Walker Filbert, and Chief Deputy Zack Orr — each sharing powerful messages about the importance of standing up for the safety and well-being of our children. During the event, Mayor Gary Mendenhall presented an official proclamation, declaring April as Child Abuse Awareness Month in the City of Pittsfield. Thank you to everyone who joined us, wore blue, and helped shine a light on this important issue. #ChildAbuseAwareness #PittsfieldIL #WearBlue

Pittsfield Lake Fisheries Update IDNR Fisheries recently completed their Spring Trap Net Survey at Pittsfield Lake on April 15–16. Using 10 trap nets, they sampled fish over a 24-hour period and recorded some impressive results! Highlights include: -26 Muskie, with the largest measuring 39.2” and weighing 21.5 lbs. — the best sample since stockings began in 2019! -10 Walleye, with the biggest weighing in at 11.6 lbs. -Plenty of Black and White Crappie — anglers are encouraged to harvest crappie due to high abundance in the lake. They also came across some turtles (not unusual during these surveys), including a 33 lb Common Snapping Turtle! All fish and turtles were measured, weighed, and released. Big thanks to IDNR and Blake Ruebush for their ongoing efforts in monitoring and managing our local fisheries!

Good Friday is a solemn day for many Christians, observed as the day Jesus was crucified. People observe it in different ways, depending on their traditions and beliefs. Some common ways to observe Good Friday include: ✝️ Attending church services – Many churches hold special services with scripture readings, prayers, and reflections on Jesus’ sacrifice. 🙏 Prayer and fasting – Some people fast or eat simple meals as a way to reflect and show reverence. 📖 Reading scripture – Meditating on the Passion of Christ by reading passages from the Bible (like John 18-19) is a meaningful way to connect with the day. 🤲 Acts of service – Helping others or giving to charity in honor of Jesus’ selflessness. 🎵 Listening to worship music – Hymns and reflective songs can help set the tone for the day. Do you do anything special to observe Good Friday?
